Behold the flashing waters A cloven dancing jet, That from the milk-white marble For ever foam and fret; Far off in drowsy valleys Where the meadow saffrons blow, The feet of summer dabble In their coiling calm and slow. The banks are worn forever By a people sadly gay: A Titan with loud laughter, Made them of fire clay. Go ask the springing flowers, And the flowing air above, What are the twin-born waters, And they'll answer Death and Love.
With wreaths of withered flowers Two lonely spirits wait With wreaths of withered flowers 'Fore paradise's gate. They may not pass the portal Poor earth-enkindled pair, Though sad is many a spirit To pass and leave them there Still staring at their flowers, That dull and faded are. If one should rise beside thee, The other is not far. Go ask the youngest angel, She will say with bated breath, By the door of Mary's garden Are the spirits Love and Death.

Hvað segir talan 33 ykkur? Nei ekki tala í lottóinu heldur er í dag nefnilega 33 ár frá því lagið Heros með David Bowie kom út. Lagið var tekið upp í hinni frábæru borg Berlin í Hansa stúdíoinu nærri múrnum ógurlega. Lagið er titillag samnefndrar breiðskífu sem kom út 1977. Svo má svona til gamans geta að Bruce Springsteen og Julio Iglesias eiga afmæli í dag 23.september.
I, I wish you could swim Like the dolphins Like dolphins can swim
Though nothing, nothing will keep us together We can beat them, forever and ever Oh, we can be heroes just for one day
I, I will be King And you, you will be Queen Though nothing will drive them away We can be heroes just for one day We can be us just for one day
I, I can remember (I remember) Standing by the wall (By the wall) And the guns, shot above our heads (Over our heads) And we kissed, as though nothing could fall (Nothing could fall)
And the shame, was on the other side Oh, we can beat them, forever and ever Then we could be heroes just for one day
We can be heroes We can be heroes We can be heroes just for one day We can be heroes
Who else is gonna bring you A broken arrow Who else is gonna bring you A bottle of rain There he goes, moving across the water There he goes turning my whole world around
Do you feel what I feel Can we make that so it's part of the deal I gotta hold you in these arms of steel Lay your heart on the line ... this time
I wanna breathe when you breathe When you whisper like that hot summer breeze Count the beads of sweat that cover me Didn't you show me a sign, this time
Who else is gonna bring you A broken arrow Who else is gonna bring you A bottle of rain There he goes, moving across the water There he goes turning my whole world around
Can you see what I see Can you cut behind the mystery I will meet you by the witness tree Leave the whole world behind
I want to come when you call I'll get to you if I have to crawl They can't hold me with these iron walls We've got mountains to climb
Who else is gonna bring you A broken arrow Who else is gonna bring you A bottle of rain There he goes, moving across the water There he goes turning my whole world around
Death is not the end varð fyrir - Nick Cave + Kylie Minogue + Shane MacGowan[1996]
Jæja komið að því sem Víglundur hefur beðið spenntur eftir – tilnefningu !!
Nick Cave + Kylie Minogue + Shane MacGowan - Death is not the end varð fyrir valinu að þessu sinni. Frábært lag eftir meistara Bob Dylan. Kom út 1996 á Murder Ballads.
When you're sad and when you're lonely And you haven't got a friend Just remember that death is not the end And all that you held sacred Falls down and does not mend Just remember that death is not the end Not the end, not the end Just remember that death is not the end When you're standing on the crossroads That you cannot comprehend Just remember that death is not the end And all your dreams have vanished And you don't know what's up the bend Just remember that death is not the end Not the end, not the end Just remember that death is not the end When the storm clouds gather round you And heavy rains descend Just remember that death is not the end And there's no-one there to comfort you With a helping hand to lend Just remember that death is not the end Not the end, not the end Just remember that death is not the end For the tree of life is growing Where the spirit never dies And the bright light of salvation Up in dark and empty skies When the cities are on fire With the burning flesh of men Just remember that death is not the end When you search in vain to find Some law-abiding citizen Just remember that death is not the end Not the end, not the end Just remember that death is not the end Not the end, not the end Just remember that death is not the end
Standing on the corner, suitcase in my hand, Jack is in his corset, and Jane is in her vest, and, me, I'm in a rock'n'roll band. Huh! Ridin' in a Stutz-Bearcat, Jim Y'know, those were different times! Oh, all the poet, they studied rules of verse, And the ladies, they rolled their eyes. Sweet Jane! Whoa! Sweet Jane, oh-oh-a! Sweet Jane! I'll tell you something, Jack, he is a banker, And Jane, she is a clerk. Both of them save their monies, ha, And when, when they come home from work! Ooh! Sittin' down by the fire, oh! The radio does play, The classical music there, Jim. "The March of the Wooden Soldiers".
All you protest kids. You can hear Jack say, get ready, ah, Sweet Jane! Come on baby! Sweet Jane! Oh-oh-a! Sweet Jane! Some people, they like to go out dancing, And other peoples, they have to work. Just watch me now! And there's even some evil mothers, Well they're gonna tell you that everything is just dirt. Y'know that, women, never really faint, And that villains always blink their eyes, woo! And that, y'know, children are the only ones who blush! And that, life is, just to die! And, everyone who ever had a heart, oh, That wouldn't turn around and break it. And anyone who ever played a part, whoa, And wouldn't turn around and hate it! Sweet Jane! Whoa-oh-oh! Sweet Jane! Sweet Jane. Sweet Jane. Sweet Jane. Sweet Jane.
There are places I remember All my life though some have changed Some forever not for better Some have gone and some remain All these places had their moments With lovers and friends I still can recall Some are dead and some are living In my life I've loved them all
But of all these friends and lovers There is no one compares with you And these memories lose their meaning When I think of love as something new Though I know I'll never lose affection For people and things that went before I know I'll often stop and think about them In my life I love you more
Though I know I'll never lose affection For people and things that went before I know I'll often stop and think about them In my life I love you more In my life I love you more
Ordinary boys, happy knowing nothing Happy being no-one but themselves Ordinary girls, supermarket clothes Who think it's very clever to be cruel to you
For you were so different You stood all alone And you knew That it had to be so Avoiding ordinary boys Happy going nowhere, just around here In their rattling cars
Ordinary girls Never seeing further Than the cold, small streets That trap them But you were so different You had to say no When those empty fools Tried to change you, and claim you For the lair of their ordinary world
Where they feel so lucky So lucky, so lucky With their lives laid out before them They are lucky So lucky, so lucky So lucky, so ...
Meistari Nick Cave á næstu tilnefningu eða öllu heldur hljómsveit hans Grinderman. Síðastliðinn þriðjudag 15.sept kom út önnur plata Grinderman sem heitir einfaldlega Grinderman 2. Eftir að hafa hlustað á þessa plötu spyr maður sig hvernig Cave getur endalaust verið svona góður, frábær plata. Vissulega á platan eftir að sanna sig með tímanum en ég varð að láta þetta lag "When my baby comes" fá að rúlla.
To think I knew you when you had nothing at all And now you've got your back to the wall It only goes to show, you'll always reap just what you sow You had no reason for being so bad You had the world in the palm of your hand It only goes to show, you'll always reap just what you sow
I didn't think of vengeance, don't forget I loved you once And now it's turned full circle, you just won't find another chance
Look how the mighty have managed to fall Your fancy words didn't help you at all It only goes to show, you'll always reap just what you sow
I didn't think of vengeance, don't forget I loved you once And now it's turned full circle, you just won't find another chance
It only goes to show, you'll always reap just what you sow It only goes to show, you'll always reap just what you sow
I didn't think of vengeance, don't forget I loved you once And now it's turned full circle, you just won't find another chance
Líklega kannast flestir við lagið I´m gonna be með The Proclaimers sem er í sjálfu sér ágætist lag en að mínu mati er Cap in Hand mun betra og hef ég því ákveðið að tilnefna það. Cap in Hands – The Proclaimers kom út á Sunshine on Leith árið 1988
I could tell the meaning of a word like serene, I got some `O' grades when I was sixteen,---- I can tell the difference 'tween margarine and butter, I can say "Saskatchawen" without starting to stutter. But I can't understand why we let someone else rule our land, we're cap in hand. I could get a broken jaw from being in a fight, I know it's evening when day turns to night, I can understand why Stranraer lie so lowly, They could save a lot of points by signing Hib's goalie. But I can't understand why we let someone else rule our land, we're cap in hand. We fight when they ask us, We boast then we cower, We beg for a piece of What's already, what's already, what's already, ours. Once I thought I could make God a bribe, So I said I was in His lost tribe, Getting handouts can be so frustrating, "Get in line son, there's five million waiting". But I can't understand why you let someone else rule your land You're cap in hand. No, I can't understand why we let someone else rule our land, We're cap in hand, cap in hand, cap in hand, cap in hand, No, I can't understand why we let someone else rule our land, We're cap in hand ....
A police car and a screaming siren Pneumatic drill and ripped up concrete A baby wailing, a stray dog howling The screech of brakes and lamplights blinking
That’s entertainment, that’s entertainment
A smash of glass and the rumble of boots An electric train and a ripped up phone booth Paint splattered walls and the cry of a tom cat Lights going out and a kick in the balls
I say that’s entertainment, that’s entertainment
Days of speed and slow time Mondays Pissing down with rain on a boring Wednesday Watching the news and not eating your tea A freezing cold flat and damp on the walls
I say that’s entertainment, that’s entertainment
Waking up at 6 a.m. on a cool warm morning Opening the windows and breathing in petrol An amateur band rehearse in a nearby yard Watching the telly and thinking 'bout your holidays
That’s entertainment, that’s entertainment
Waking up from bad dreams and smoking cigarettes Cuddling a warm girl and smelling stale perfume A hot summers day and sticky black tarmac Feeding ducks in the park and wishing you were far away
That’s entertainment, that’s entertainment
Two lovers kissing amongst the scream of midnight Two lovers missing the tranquillity of solitude Getting a cab and travelling on buses Reading the graffiti about slashed seat affairs

How many roads most a man walk down Before you call him a man ? How many seas must a white dove sail Before she sleeps in the sand ? Yes, how many times must the cannon balls fly Before they're forever banned ? The answer my friend is blowin' in the wind The answer is blowin' in the wind.
Yes, how many years can a mountain exist Before it's washed to the sea ? Yes, how many years can some people exist Before they're allowed to be free ? Yes, how many times can a man turn his head Pretending he just doesn't see ? The answer my friend is blowin' in the wind The answer is blowin' in the wind.
Yes, how many times must a man look up Before he can see the sky ? Yes, how many ears must one man have Before he can hear people cry ? Yes, how many deaths will it take till he knows That too many people have died ? The answer my friend is blowin' in the wind The answer is blowin' in the wind.
Come a little bit closer Hear what I have to say Just like children sleepin' We could dream this night away. But there's a full moon risin' Let's go dancin' in the light We know where the music's playin' Let's go out and feel the night. Because I'm still in love with you I want to see you dance again Because I'm still in love with you On this harvest moon. When we were strangers I watched you from afar When we were lovers I loved you with all my heart. But now it's gettin' late And the moon is climbin' high I want to celebrate See it shinin' in your eye. Because I'm still in love with you I want to see you dance again Because I'm still in love with you On this harvest moon.
Textinn í Born in the USA kemur inn á Víetnamstríðið líkt og síðasta tilnefning mín. Lagið er titillag samnefndrar breiðskífu sem kom út 04.júní 1984 og seldist í bílförmum. Virkilega sterkt lag hjá Brússa.
Born down in a dead man's town The first kick I took was when I hit the ground You end up like a dog that's been beat too much Till you spend half your life just covering up
Born in the U.S.A. I was born in the U.S.A. I was born in the U.S.A. Born in the U.S.A.
Got in a little hometown jam So they put a rifle in my hand Sent me off to a foreign land To go and kill the yellow man
Born in the U.S.A. I was born in the U.S.A. I was born in the U.S.A. I was born in the U.S.A. Born in the U.S.A.
Come back home to the refinery Hiring man says "Son if it was up to me" Went down to see my V.A. man He said "Son, don't you understand"
I had a brother at Khe Sahn fighting off the Viet Cong They're still there, he's all gone
He had a woman he loved in Saigon I got a picture of him in her arms now
Down in the shadow of the penitentiary Out by the gas fires of the refinery I'm ten years burning down the road Nowhere to run ain't got nowhere to go
Born in the U.S.A. I was born in the U.S.A. Born in the U.S.A. I'm a long gone Daddy in the U.S.A. Born in the U.S.A. Born in the U.S.A. Born in the U.S.A. I'm a cool rocking Daddy in the U.S.A.
Twenty - five years and my life is still Trying to get up that great big hill of hope For a destination And I realized quickly when I knew I should That the world was made up of this brotherhood of man For whatever that means And so I cry sometimes When I'm lying in bed Just to get it all out What's in my head And I am feeling a little peculiar And so I wake in the morning And I step outside And I take a deep breath and I get real high And I scream at the top of my lungs What's going on? And I say, hey hey hey hey I said hey, what's going on? Ooh, ooh ooh And I try, oh my god do I try I try all the time, in this institution And I pray, oh my god do I pray I pray every single day For a revolution And so I cry sometimes When I'm lying in bed Just to get it all out What's in my head And I am feeling a little peculiar And so I wake in the morning And I step outside And I take a deep breath and I get real high And I scream at the top of my lungs What's going on? And I say, hey hey hey hey I said hey, what's going on? Twenty - five years and my life is still Trying to get up that great big hill of hope For a destination
In 1965 Vietnam seemed like just another foreign war, but it wasn't. It was different in many ways, as so were tose that did the fighting. In World War II the average age of the combat soldier was 26... In Vietnam he was 19. In inininininin Vietnam he was 19.
(TV announcer's voice) The shooting and fighting of the past two weeks continued today 25 miles west of Saigon I really wasn't sure what was going on (Vet's Voice)
Nininini Nineteen, 19, Ni-nineteen 19 19,19,19,19
In Vietnam the combat soldier typicaly served a twelve month tour of duty but was exposed to hostile fire almost everyday Ninininininininininin 19 nininininninin 19
Hundreds of Thousands of men who saw heavy combat in Vietnam were arrested since discharge Their arrest rate is almost twice that of non-veterans of the same age. There are no accurate figures of how many of these men have been incarcerated. But, a Veterans Administration study concludes that the greater of Vets exposure to combat could more likely affect his chances of being arrested or convicted.
This is one legacy of the Vietnam War
(Singing Girls) All those who remember the war They won't forget what they've seen.. Destruction of men in their prime whose average was 19 Dedededededede-Destruction Dedededededede-Destruction War, War Dededede-Destruction, wa-wa-War, wa-War, War Dedededededede-Destruction War, War
After World War II the Men came home together on troop ships, but the Vietnam Vet often arrived home within 48 hours of jungle combat Perhaps the most dramatic difference between World War II and VietNam was coming home.. .none of them received a hero's welcome None of them received
Once I thought I saw you in a crowded hazy bar, Dancing on the light from star to star. Far across the moonbeam I know that's who you are, I saw your brown eyes turning once to fire. You are like a hurricane There's calm in your eye. And I'm gettin' blown away To somewhere safer where the feeling stays. I want to love you but I'm getting blown away. I am just a dreamer, but you are just a dream, You could have been anyone to me. Before that moment you touched my lips That perfect feeling when time just slips Away between us on our foggy trip. You are like a hurricane There's calm in your eye. And I'm gettin' blown away To somewhere safer where the feeling stays. I want to love you but I'm getting blown away. You are just a dreamer, and I am just a dream. You could have been anyone to me. Before that moment you touched my lips That perfect feeling when time just slips Away between us on our foggy trip. You are like a hurricane There's calm in your eye. And I'm gettin' blown away To somewhere safer where the feeling stays. I want to love you but I'm getting blown away.
